November 12: Purl this!
Actually, it wasn't really myself who taught me to knit - the credit goes to Rosanne, who besides teaching me to knit, also taught me to me put cognac in my hot chocolate while doing so.
But the real feat, as illustrated above, is that I finally figured out how to purl. For close to two years I have been somewhat purl-impaired and the only way I could make a stockinette stitch was by knitting in the round, which fortunately Rosanne taught me how to do. But I had become bored of knitting the same toque for the past two years, so I finally buckled down, pulled out my handy "I Taught Myself Knitting" book and forced myself to knit one, purl one, and voila, a stockinette stitch (and a dishrag) that mom would be proud of.
Next project: handmade Christmas sweaters for everyone!
