I had some work done on my new sled yesterday, and in order to do all the welding and grinding you have to take the whole thing apart. Which means that you have to take all the padding off. Since I had it all in pieces, I decided to re-pad my sled.

My teammate Joe summed up this process perfectly yesterday as we sat in the basement of the training centre at COP (known fondly as "The Bowling Alley, despite the large workroom being devoid of lanes, pins, balls, neon lights and ugly shoes), surrounded by piles of foam and yards of tape, and glue and scissors and exacto knives:

"Skeleton is part athletics ... and part arts and crafts."
