December 14: The soothing sounds of industrial cleansers

It'd been a bit of a rough week in training. Don't get to excited, there's been no spectacular crashes or anything. It's just been a long fall, training day-to-day, and I think I am getting tired. I am still getting used to my new sled, trying to break a bunch of bad habits I developed on the old sled and it's slow going. My neck is sore, my arms hurt from where my sled digs in, and I keep smashing my hands. Normally the bumps and bruises don't really bother me ... as my coach said last week, without the slightest hint of sympathy, when I showed him my bleeding hand, "It's skeleton."

But I got to be honest. Dragging your knuckles along a cement wall at 100kph and burning through your gloves and skin ... well ... it kinda stings.

So after two more frustrating runs last night, there was really only one thing I could do for a little pick-me-up on my way home from the track.

Carwash, of course!

And let me tell you, I have been saving up:

Now, I went to a different car wash this time, and it wasn't quite the disco event that the Shell station in northeast Calgary offered. It did offer some different colours, which was a pleasent surprise, but it was too much of a multi-task machine, and everything happened way to fast. I wanted o sit in that carwash for, I don't know, at least an hour. But it only took, like, a minute.

BUT ... I did purchase the fancy package that included, get this, a weather guarantee. If it snows or rains in the next 48 hours, I get a FREE carwash! Could you imagine my mood if I had TWO carwashes in the span of two days!?! I'll be breaking track records.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
