Today is Jason's birthday and we celebrated in style: we ate Timmie's for breakfast, watched four hours of Battlestar Galactica, had Greek food for dinner, went to the movies to see the newest Batman and then came home and ate cake.

For his birthday I gave Jay what every introverted computer programmer wants: his photo on the front page of the classified section in the local newspaper, delivered to the doorsteps of 5,000 residents.

Ahhh ... the power one can wield in the position of temporary ad designer at the local rag.

But wait, it gets better.

As we were leaving the restaurant after dinner, a lady looked up and said to Jay "Hey, Happy Birthday!" I figured she had just seen the waitress bring Jay a piece of cake with a candle or overheard half of the town of Kingaroy, Australia singing "Happy Birthday" over speakerphone during our meal. Until she says to Jay's questioning look, "Wasn't your picture in the newspaper?"

I laughed all the way home.
