November 24: The Kiss of Death
Tomorrow is our very first day sliding at the new Whistler track. Look at how happy Paul is, in the background there ... so oblivious to the fact that DEATH IS IMMINENT.
So today, after we signed our waivers assuring VANOC that we wouldn't sue should the situation arise where we were to, say, DIE, we did out track walk from bottom to top (and back to the bottom again) to learn the corners and steers and the places where we will potentially DIE.
Then we did some very important (and serious) practice runs ...
... you know, to ... uhh ... simulate the part where we crash and lose our sleds (right before we DIE, of course ... ). I jest of course ... we were just having a little fun, you know, before tomorrow, you know, when we will be DYING.
Oh, hey, did I mention that I have my first Europe circuit team meeting tomorrow? Too bad it's right after I DIE.
