DEC.21 | And, somehow, STILL holding it together ...

Since not one, but two races ended up being canceled yesterday because of the snow, the jury made a decision to hold three single-heat races today: one to replace the race that was supposed to be held in Konigsee, Germany in January, a second to replace the race that was canceled yesterday, and a third for the final scheduled race in Igls. If nothing else, it made for interesting art on the back of our sleds ...

We woke up this morning wondering if we were going to find another foot of snow. Instead we found a foot of water. It was coming down as hard as it had been the day before, only now it was rain.

Ask me how excited I was to do, not one, not two, but three warmups for the three races in pouring rain.

So. Excited.

But ... better rain than snow - at least the ice was decent, the groove was fine and there were no snow drifts to contend with. I put Operation Don't Move into practice for one more day, and lo and behold, I managed to pull myself up onto the podium two more times, which was kinda nice considering how this track has been kicking my ... uhhh ... bum ... all week.

I finished 6th in the first "race" (you know, because three consecutive sixth-place finishes really just wasn't enough ... ), then I had a great run and finished 4th in the second "race." Now I was very happy, possibly even jovial, to earn a fourth-place finish and get a very cool trophy (pictured above ... with my teammate Johnny, who KICKED IT at the Igls races and got himself three fancy trophies ... ) from which one could, if they so-desired, drink beer (or Coke ... ) ... (or beer ... ), but, I gotta be honest, that sixth place trophy is my favourite ever ...

Not only could I sip a nice Chardonnay from it, but it's for a track I have never been to, in a year that has not yet occurred.

Yes. I am THAT good.
