JAN.29 | 500 Runs: Halfway there ...
Last night I was filling in my track logbook, where I keep a tally of every run I have ever done, and realized that during the next day's training I would reach my 500th run.
So at training today, as I was standing on the start block, I mentioned to one of the jury members that I was about to take my 500th run. Two minutes later the track was cleared for me with the usual "The track is clear for Michelle Bartleman of Canada. La Pista e libre." But then announcer added "Congratulations on your 500th run." Cool! It was totally cute ... and I was totally terrified that I would go ahead and crash on that run, and not make it across the finish line, and still be stuck at number 499 ... !
For the record, it was my best run of the week! You know, that lucky number 500 ...
It seems like a really big number, except that when I walked into this sport two and half years ago, my coach told me to get 1000 runs under my belt, and then we would talk about my prospects in skeleton.
So, Duff ... pencil me in for a conversation about my prospects in skeleton in, say, October 2011 ...
