"Champagne?!? What is there to celebrate?
Crumbly-ness?"

October 29: 103.8 kph baby!
A bumpy, painful, intense 103.8 kph ... but 103.8 kph nonetheless!
Well, I can now take another of the negatives out of my header: at least I have done the sport now!
So, it's official - I have a skeleton pilots license, and can now go to the Calgary track and slide down from the top anytime I want. Well ... anytime I want when the track is open for training. And as long as I can find a sled to use ... and a helmet ... and whenever I am actually in Calgary ... okay, well I can go more often than I use to be able to!
Going down from the top is definitely a notch up from the ladies luge start. I think the only appropriate word to describe the experience would be ... insane! You fish tail, and slam into the side walls, and your head gets thrown into the track under 4 Gs of force in the turn. Several people flipped off their sleds. There were barrel rolls and people going sideways down the track, and even sleds going down without a slider on them! There were bumps and bruises and sore egos. And the consensus among all twenty of us? When can we go again!!?!
So, I will be back on the track tomorrow night, in preparation for my first race: The Alberta Skeleton Association (ASA) Cup ... in two weeks ... !
