Nov. 23 | Ummm ... are we missing something here?

After a nine-hour flight and two-hour drive, we arrived in Königssee, Germany today for the first stop on the Europa Cup circuit. While I do have in my collection a 6th-place trophy on this track from last season, this is actually my first time here, since the stop last year was cancelled because of some complications on the World Cup tour.

This afternoon we headed over to the track to get a peak at our competition venue and at first glance, there seems to be something missing.

Alright. So. After what has shaped up to be an interesting and unpredictable pre-season, along with a week of fastidious packing, I am ready to leave for Germany this week for my second tour on the Europa Cup circuit.

This summer BC Athlete Voice sent out an email inviting high performance BC athletes to write good luck notes to the provincial athletes headed to the Canada Summer Games. In return, they would send us a free t-shirt. I, of course, ignored the request for HIGH PERFORMANCE athletes to respond, and sent in my well wishes anyways, hoping they would mistake me for, well, someone important, and send me the t-shirt.

This past Saturday I went to a wicked sport conference, called the Athlete Advance, put on by CSC Pacific at the new (and, if I don't say so myself, one of the world's most freakin' amazing buildings ... EVA' ... ) Richmond Olympic Oval. The conference was designed for B.C. athletes who are treading somewhere in the waters between development and national elite. So ... like ... me.
