On Wednesday I went to the Calgary Zoo for the first time since I was, like, 12. The only thing I remember about the Calgary Zoo from when I was a kid was this record that we got with a song about the newborn elephant, which my sisters, brother and I can all sing to this day.

"Chandra the zoo's baby elephant, born in the mammal house right in her element, born here in Calgary and that's really relavent, 'cause that makes her an honorary, Calga-rary resident ... Chandraaaaaaaa ..."

I got a package in the mail from my mom-in-law last Friday, which I was guessing was a birthday gift. And I thought to myself, I can't wait 5 days until it is ACTUALLY my birthday. I decided I was going home to open it right then and there.

When I got home, I announced my intentions, to which Jason promptly replied that I couldn't do that, since it's not my birthday yet. And I answered that, short of there being explicit instructions forbidden that course of action, it was my package, and I could open it whenever I wanted.

So, yeah. Still haven't opened my present yet ...

Okay, so as part of Olympic preparations, they have added kilometre-long stretches of these yellow cones in order to re-allocate the highway divisions into what is, presumably, the best lane formations for efficient traffic flow. Which, firstly, begs the question, if this setup is the most efficient way to route traffic back and forth to Whistler ... WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST PAINT THE LINES ON THE ROAD THAT WAY TO BEGIN WITH?

So, after years and years of hmmm-ing and haaa-ing about whether to dish out the dough, I suspect that the purchase of my third Apple product in the span of a single year officially makes me a proselytizing member of the Church of Mac.

They came by and tattooed an apple on my forehead last night.

Here's the happy family all together, me holding Rufus, with Kate and Leopold on the right (Get it? Kate and Leopold? Get it?!?):
