Okay. So I live in a little town. A little town that has no shopping mall. No Body Shop. No Bay. No Sport Check. No Lululemon. No Stokes that is permanently going out of business. No food court.

So, everytime I am in Calgary, I carve out time to go to the mall. Because for me, it's like going to an amusement park.

There are bright lights, and tons of people. There are line-ups and kids screaming. Food stands and snack bars. And even better, no admission fee and free parking!

This is my friend Adam. Or Atom. Which sounds so much more unique and enigmatic.

I met him when I was working at MEC last fall – he used to chase me through the backstock area telling me obscene jokes, and the only reason I ever added him to Facebook was because he promised me a bottle of his homemade Baileys. Which I am still waiting for.

Well, it's official. I can no longer go out gallivanting on saddle shopping sprees to Claresholm.

My friend Mel sent me a text yesterday saying "Hey, what are you doing tomorrow? I'm going for a drive. I'll pick you up at 9:30 a.m." I was tempted to answer "Hey, what do you think I am - a jobless hobo with nothing to do on weekdays?"

Except that I am.

I asked if I had to wear a party dress or heels or something stupid, and she said yes, wear your Sunday best. So I humoured her, and I put on pants and actually brushed my hair before leaving the house.

So, it's only taken 32.5 years, but I have finally had my first official celebrity sighting. Well, if you don't count that one time I saw Jean Charest at the airport. And that was only after my dad pointed him out. And told me who he was.

So, last Saturday evening, I was out for a leisurely meal with two teammates at Joey's on Burrard, in Vancouver.
